Found Footage Rom: Mille & NikNik

This is the prequel of my writing 2023: Camille 01. Only this time in the form of found footage romance of Camille and Nikolas' little life snippets.

#1. Adult Colouring Book

"What a waste of two hundred crowns!" Nikolas exclaimed as he perused Camille's new adult coloring journal.
"Come on, it's not that wasteful. I get to write and color stuff. It's, you know, fun." Camille said, showing him a page that she had coloured and filled with journal entries.
"It feels obligatory, Millie. It takes the fun out since you have to colour in and write your entries."
"Well, what do you propose we do to pass the time?" Camille asked him challengingly, "And don't suggest eating because I'm full."
He laughed and reached out to her, all the while whispering conspiratorially, "Sweetheart, I can think a lot of things that we can do to pass the time, but most of them are inappropriate in a public setting and involve less clothing."
She smacked his shoulder lightly. "I'm serious. What do you reckon we do to pass the time? I'm too excited to sleep."
"As you wish," Nikolas sighed loudly, "let's color some stuff. But I get to pick which page and which shades."
Camille rummaged her bag for the box of colored pencils while Nikolas searched for a design. After a few moments, he finally decided on a page that had a large illustration of a whale with various colourful little fish swimming about. Nodding to him in agreement, Camille handed him the colored pencil box. After the page was done all colourful and cheery, they moved on to another five pages of colouring, barely remembering the passing of time and other people around them.
It wasn't until Nikolas' luggage got bumped by someone else's, they looked up. Catching each other's eyes, they laughed wholeheartedly. "See, I told you it's fun!" Camille proclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah. This time I agree." said Nikolas while shrugging, as if he did not enjoy the time they spent colouring.
After kissing him on the cheek, Camille said, "Oh, Nik my love, as I've said a couple days ago, you'll be agreeing to a lot more later on in our marriage. You'll see."
Smiling brightly, "Is that a threat or a promise, wife?"
"A little bit of both."
"Cheeky." he said, kissing her forehead.

#2. Cloud

She sighed contentedly. Everything around her was so cosy. This would not be the worst place to die, Camille thought. She let out a sigh while snuggling further to the quilted blanket. It felt like she was on clouds, floating to the stars above.
"I know you are awake, wife." Nikolas' voice broke her reverie.
"Five minutes." she mumbled, her hands flailing around, trying to shoo away her husband.
"It's our first day of being husband and wife — yet you prefer to sleep?" her husband chuckled, shaking his head.
Camille stuck her head out of the blanket, hair in disarray. She responded his question with eyes narrowed and spoke, "You cannot separate me from sleeping. Husband or not."
Her one-day old husband chuckled heartily. He finally nodded in agreement and retorted, "Last night was tiring, for sure. I don't even want to imagine having to stand on those revolting high heels you insisted wearing on our wedding day. I'll have the room service to bring up breakfast, then."
"Brunch, Nik." Camille corrected softly, clearly still sleepy and predictably only a few breaths away from falling asleep.
"Brunch it is, wife." he confirmed.
Camille nodded on her pillow, her eyes already closed and mouth slightly opened. Before dozing off completely, she pointed out, "Glad you agree, Nik. You are going to be agreeing a whole lot more in our life."
Her brute-looking husband let out a deep laugh, absolutely agreeing with her statement, before joining her in bed.

#3. Flower

The first time they got reacquainted again after almost a decade not seeing each other was through their mutual friend, Liliana. They had been dancing on the outskirts of each other's presence, both in real life and via social media. They often ventured the same hideouts, drank the same coffee, even attended the same events. The Universe is funny in hiding them from each other, ensuring that they could never cross paths in the countless times they were within the same vicinity.

They both agreed, however, that The Universe only allowed them to reunite when the timing was right. When he was more than he could ever potentially be and she was more sure with who she was as a person. The Universe, or in their case God, was never wrong. There never was a right person, wrong timing.

This time, for sure, the timing was right. The person was right. The circumstance was right.

They were reintroduced again one Saturday evening. Camille was hurrying to go to the beauty store when she spotted Liliana and she promptly rushed over to her friend. Camille could only made out who Liliana was with when she got closer. Over a few meters away, she came to a realisation that Liliana was not alone. Her cheery yoga-mat carrying best friend was chatting animatedly with Nikolas next to her.

Camille's heart skipped a beat. There he was, Nikolas. Someone whose idea of was closer to reality than he ever was. Seeing him in real life, however, made Camille wonder. Was he better made real?

Well, Camille found out months later, after her wedding ring weighed fully on her finger, he actually was.

#4. Lamp

Having never been in a relationship before, Camille never thought a mere lamp could warrant an all out war with her husband. Fortunately, their sleeping patterns and habits meshed well. Unfortunately, their creative palate differed, almost largely.

"Millie, my love, why would you choose such hideous colour?" Nikolas rubbed the back of his head wildly. His short almost military-issued haircut even looked ruffled at this point.
"Baby pink is never hideous, darling. It's the cutest. Imagine our bedroom is splattered with pastel colours. So, so cute." sighed Camille, looking dreamily at said baby pink round lamp in front of her.
Nikolas raised his eyebrows, still in disbelief. "My love, our room is painted dark forest green. Why would a baby pink lamp fit there?"
"Wanna bet?" said Camille threateningly, eyes in slit and mouth pouted.
Nikolas shrugged, feeling like winning the bet already. "I don't see why I'll lose? It's on."
Putting the said baby pink lamp in their trolley, Camille smiled devilishly. Her husband was so easy to rile up into a bet.

Much, much later in their marriage, Nikolas realised he should just let his wife win any and all arguments, and bets. Because as it turns out, she was always right.
